Bio Sketch

American urban designer and theorist (1928–1982). Known for his work on environmental perception, particularly the experience of cities from the perspective of moving observers. Co-author (with Kevin Lynch and John Myer) of The View from the Road (1964), which analyzed how highway drivers perceive and navigate the urban environment — a key reference for Venturi, Scott Brown, and Izenour's analysis of perception at vehicular speed in Learning from Las Vegas.
